History

Yayasan Musik Jakarta was founded in 1983 in Jakarta by Dr. Kuei Pin Yeo after her return from her studies in America. With a group of other classical music educators and music enthusiasts, she embarked on a journey of providing a music education with an integrated curriculum, inclusive of methods that set the standard and shape Indonesia's classical music education of today. Sekolah Musik Jakarta, the first project under the Jakarta Music Foundation, carries the reputation of being a quality school and a pioneer in classical music education in Indonesia. YMJ, under the leadership of Dr. Yeo, continually strives to foster and generate innovative ideas to promote and uplift the standard and appreciation level for classical music across Indonesia. YMJ is also widely acknowledged as the pioneer in music education in Indonesia.
